Chennai: In a shocking incident in the city, J.J. Nagar police arrested former police inspector's son and other three persons for allegedly kidnapping a staff of a courier services at the behest of a protein supplement seller, on Tuesday.
The arrested persons were identified as S. Umashankar (35) of Aminijikarai, S. Ashok Kumar (27) of Maduravoyal, R .Sivaraja Prasath (28) of Nolambur and G. Gokul (19) of Perambur. While police sent them to judicial remand, main accused C. Soundarapandian (36) is still at large. Shockingly, one of the accused, Sivaraja Prasath, is son of former inspector of J.J. Nagar police station.
According to police, Soundarapandian, who runs a protein supplement shop in the locality, recently ordered for supplements worth Rs 6 lakh online and was asked to pay the sum to the Green Cargo Courier Services on Walltax Road in order to receive the order. P. Dilip Singh (40) , of Park Town , an employee of the courier services came to Soundarapandian's shop and received Rs 6 lakh and promised to deliver the goods in two days. Since there was a delay and no proper response from the courier firm, Soundarapandian lodged a complaint at Tirumangalam police station on August 15.
Dilip Singh was summoned for an interrogation to the Tirumangalam Assistant Commissioner's office at J.J.Nagar police station on the same day, but he mysteriously vanished since then.
Meanwhile, the courier firm owner M Navsath Alaham (24) on Monday lodged a complaint at Elephant Gate police station that his employee Dilip Singh has been missing since August 15. Since he went missing from J J Nagar police station, the case was forwarded to them. A hunt was launched and Dilip Singh was rescued from a house in Nerkundram with bleeding injuries, the police added. Investigation revealed that the accused had allegedly kidnapped him on August 15 at the behest of Soundarapandian when he stepped out of Assistant Commissioner's office and attacked him demanding Rs 6 lakh.
