Writer KP Ramanunni receives threat letter asking him to convert into Islam

He discussed the issue with writers Satchidanandan and Zacharia before approaching the police.

Kozhikode: Writer K.P. Ramanunni received a letter asking him to convert to Islam in six months or lose one of his hands and legs.

The writer lodged a complaint with Kozhikode city police commissioner S. Kaliraj Mahesh Kumar on Friday. The police started a probe into the veracity of the letter posted from Manjeri in Malappuram. It alleged that his writings misled innocent Muslims, though he pretends to be in their favour. It abused the writer for comparing Hinduism with Islam.

“The punishment for non-believers is severe. We give you six months to embrace our beliefs. You will get the ultimate punishment if you do not convert,” the letter reads. It reached the writer’s residence by mail.
