Hyderabad police arrests man for selling bogus fuel saver' gadget
Hyderabad: A person who allegedly duped several people by selling them ‘fuel saver kits’ that he claimed would reduce fuel consumption was arrested by Charminar police on Friday. The police seized 70 petrol saver kits from him.
The accused, P. Geeta Prasad, 38, a resident of Ramanthapur, earlier ran a provision store. Since a few days the man was seen standing at fuel stations and selling a 'fuel saver kit' to those who came for refuelling vehicles.
“Geeta Prasad used to approach people and tell them about the power saving product to them. He used sell the kit for Rs 399 and say that it is offer price while the company rate is Rs 1,499,” ACP Charminar, Ashok Chakravarthy said.
He used to tell buyers to keep the kit in the fuel tank and after four or five days it would yield results. A person, Mohd Junaid, bought the fuel kit from Geeta Prasad but it did not prove useful.
“Later, Junaid caught Geeta Prasad and asked him why the kit did not give results. Prasad abused Junaid and he approached us,” said the ACP. Following a complaint, the police caught Geeta Prasad, raided his house and seized the 'fuel saver kits'. “The accused manufactured fuel kits at his house using material purchased from Troop Bazaar,” the police official said. The accused was arrested, produced in court and remanded.
