Vijayawada: Pastor Verapaneni Johnson Chowdhary of Gannavarm, who had allegedly gone missing in the US and whose wife had been approaching the authorities to find him, had been arrested in the US for misusing donated funds.
Pastor Johnson, who had travelled to the to US for community preaching, had gone “missing” from the Los Angeles airport on July 13 before boarding his flight to Hyderabad
A missing person’s case was registered with the Gannavaram police by his wife Verapaneni Subashini. On Wednesday, it came to light that the pastor had been arrested by the US police in the airport before boarding the flight.
Local cops contacted the US police who informed them that Johnson had been arrested for misusing funds donated by foreigners for churches in Vijayawada.
His wife Subashini is trying to seek an appointment with the Chief Minister to help her husband.
