Chennai: Sanitary worker alleges harassment

The police said they have received the compliant and claimed they were looking into it.

Chennai: Two days after a sanitary supervisor lodged a complaint of physical assault against the assistant general manager of Chennai airport, a woman sanitary worker on Monday approached the police saying the same AGM was sexually torturing her.

The woman, attached to the firm engaged in cleaning work at the Chennai airport, alleged that the officer had been asking her to give him a massage and also used to speak to her in vulgar language to impress her about his sexual prowess.

A physically challenged person, she claimed in her complaint that she used to take shelter in the rest room fearing the officer, who had been threatening her that she would lose her job if she did not cooperate.

The 32-year-old woman also claimed that she had even told the officer that she would be forced to commit suicide if he continues to sexually harass her. The officer reportedly asked her to kill herself and also threatened that he would kill her himself, according to the complainant.

The police said they have received the compliant and claimed they were looking into it. On Friday, a sanitary supervisor alleged that the AGM had assaulted him when he demanded that morning shift workers should be provided with lunch if they had to stay back for the 4 pm Swachh Bharat rally on that day.
