WARANGAL: A 21-year-old man died by suicide after taking a selfie on the birthday of his lover, alleging that he was taking the extreme step because he was harassed and cheated on by his lover and her friend. The video posted on social media went viral here in Hanamkonda district on Sunday.
The youth identified as Manda Sai, 21, a resident of Mulkanoor village in the district, was in love with a woman, a native of Hanamkonda city for the past three years.
The video said that a few days back she introduced one of her friends Vishnu Vardhan and asked Sai to stay away from him. But on May 17 the woman called him to Julaiwada colony where Vishnu Vardhan lives and locked him in the room and thrashed him badly.
When a complaint was lodged with the Subedari police station, the police instead of taking action, counselled them and sent them back home.
Sai said that promising that she would marry him she betrayed him and started torturing him, joining hands with her friend for past four months. Unable to bear their torture, he was taking the extreme step on her birthday May 21 so that she must remember his death on her every birthday, Sai stated.
After a complaint was lodged by the family members of Sai, the Mulkanoor police registered a case and started investigation.
