Hyderabad: Businessman suffers losses, ends life

Hyderabad: A 34-year-old businessman from Maharashtra hanged himself to death at his home in Bandimet due to financial problems and marital disputes.The deceased, B. Lakshman, had come to Hyderabad from his hometown in Maharashtra around 10 years back.

Police said that he was working with a private company for a long time and had started his own wholesale business a month ago and ran up huge losses. “Lakshman was married to Poornima and the couple had two kids, a 7-year-old boy and a 4-year-old girl. After his wholesale business suffered huge losses his wife started arguing with him and this troubled him,” said SI Tejam Reddy of Market Police Station.

On Saturday, the couple had a heated argument and the wife said that she was going back to her family in Maharashtra and left house. He called his brother, Sitaram, who was in his hometown and told him that he was going to commit suicide as he was not able to bear the domestic fights and financial losses, police said.

“Sitaram immediately called Poornima who had reached Jubilee Bus Station by that time and told her about her husband’s decision. She rushed back home from there but found him hanging at their home,” added the SI.

The owner of the house in which the family was staying called the police and based on a complaint filed by the wife, the police booked a case under Section 174 (suspicious death) of CrPC. Lakshman’s body was shifted to Gandhi Hospital Mortuary for post-mortem.
