Bengaluru: Former corporator and rowdy V. Nagaraj’s wife Lakshmi, who was absconding since the arrest of Nagaraj and his two sons Gandhi and Shastri on May 10, has finally been traced and detained by the police for interrogation.
The police detained Lakshmi Nagaraj on Sunday evening who was traced by the police in Mahalakshmi Layout. She is being interrogated by the police to learn her involvement in Nagaraj’s illegal money conversion racket.
Nagaraj, who is in police custody, had told his interrogators that the money he extorted from businessmen was with his wife. The police had started a manhunt for her.
Meanwhile, three businessmen, including two realtors, have filed complaints of cheating against Nagaraj at the Kengeri police station. The businessmen stated that Nagaraj took crores of rupees from them and never returned it.
Police to seek extension of custody
The police, who are interrogating Nagaraj and his two sons Gandhi and Shatri for their involvement in extortion and illegal currency conversion cases, are producing them before the court. The 11th ACMM court had granted custody of the three to the police for 10 days which ended on Sunday.
