Hyderabad: Wife goes back, cab driver ends life
Hyderabad: Depressed at being allegedly harassed by his wife’s parents, a 33- year-old cabbie committed suicide at Karmanghat. Talasani Mahender Reddy was in love with one of his distant relatives and had married her without her parents’ knowledge. When they came to know of this they changed her mind, took her away and she started avoiding him.
Mahender Reddy, hailing from Keshampet in Ranga Reddy district, was working as a cab driver in Hyderabad. Since a year, he was in love with Sravanti and they got married in September 2016 without the knowledge of their parents and started staying at Karmanghat.
After three months his wife went to her home and they came to know that she had got married. Her parents prevented her from returning to her husband and he was left alone. When he came to know that his wife was not allowed to stay with him by her parents he took up the issue with community elders.
Meanwhile, her parents changed her mind saying that she cannot make a living with a cab driver and that he had bad habits. Though panchayats were held at least three times in four months, his wife refused to come back and that depressed him.
On Friday morning neighbours saw his room locked from inside and when there was no response they alerted the police. “He was found hanging. He left a four-page suicide note saying that he was depressed as his wife had left him for her parents,” Saroornagar SI P. Jangaiah said. Based on a complaint from his brother Kiran Kumar Reddy, a suspicious death case was registered and the body was handed over after post-mortem.
