Bangladeshi national arrested for filming airhostess on Indigo flight

Bhumia, travelling with 2 friends, started clicking a video of an airhostess while she was serving passengers.

Mumbai: A Bangladeshi resident was taken by Mumbai Airport security to domestic airport police station and booked for allegedly clicking pictures of an airhostess on board an Indigo aircraft without due permission. A case has been registered against the accused, Aseem Joygopal Bhumia, under section 354 B/2 of the IPC for assault or use of criminal force on any woman or abetting such act with the intention of disrobing or compelling her to be naked.

The Mumbai-bound Indigo flight 6E 326 took off from Kolkata and landed at Mumbai airport on Thursday evening. ACP of airport region, Suresh Vedak, confirmed the incident and told The Asian Age, “We arrested Mr Bhumia late Thursday evening.”

According to Mumbai airport sources, Bhumia (38) was travelling with two other friends and suddenly started clicking a video of one of the airhostess while she was serving passengers. A co-passenger noticed the act and alerted the in-flight manager immediately, following which the pilot was alerted. The pilot got in touch with Mumbai Airport control room. Security agency, Central Industrial Security Force (CISF), was informed by airport authorities, which immediately nabbed the passenger after the aircraft landed at the main runway of Mumbai airport.

The CISF officials took the the accused to the domestic police station where a case was registered. The other two passengers were let off by the police as they were not aware that Mr Bhumia was filming the airhostess on his mobile camera.

According to sources, Mr Bhumia clicked a video of the hostess while she was serving passengers. Later, cabin crew tried to make the passenger understand that shooting is not allowed but Mr Bhumia refused to listen to them, following which, the pilot informed airport authorities.

An official from Indigo Airways confirmed the incident and said, “In IndiGo flight 6E 326 from Kolkata to Mumbai, some passengers started capturing a video of the cabin crew mid-air. One of the other passengers informed the crew that they were being videographed. The Captain was informed about the incident. On arrival, the security staff handed over three passengers to the airport police.”
