Byatarayanapura police crack housewife's murder; three culprits held
Bengaluru: The Byatarayanapura police have cracked a murder-cum-theft case and arrested three people. They had murdered a 26-year-old woman at her residence, while she was alone, on March 1.
The deceased has been identified as Kavitha. She was married to Shivaram and they used to reside on Kasturaba Road, along with their two children. Shivaram is an employee at a plywood factory.
The accused have been identified as Girish, alias Bande Gireesh, 20, a resident of Anchepalya Mysore Road, Ashish Kumar, 21, a resident of KG Nagar and Ashok, 24, a resident of Chamrajpet. All the accused are habitual offenders.
The main accused, Girish, knew Shivaram and his family. He decided to commit robbery and roped in two of his friends to commit the crime.
They kept a watch on Shivaram’s house and were waiting for an opportune moment to commit the crime.
According to the police, on March 1 around 9:15 am Shivaram left for work, while his children went to school, the trio barged into the house, slit Kavitha’s throat open and decamped with gold and silver ornaments worth Rs 1.2 lakh.
The incident came to light after Kavitha’s father came to her house as usual for breakfast at around 9:50 am. He found her in a pool of blood and immediately alerted the police.
During the investigation, the police found that GIrish was keeping a watch on the house and detained him. During the interrogation he confessed the murder and the theft, and revealed his associates names.
Girish and Ashish were previously booked under various cases and also jailed. After finishing their term, the two, along with Ashok, took to crime.
