Bengaluru: After killing husband, woman cooks up story, arrested
Bengaluru: A 37-year-old woman who killed her husband, destroyed all evidence and concocted a story to avoid arrest has finally landed in the police net.
The Vijayanagar police solved the case nearly two months after the incident.
The accused has been identified as Uma J, who had on January 17 brutally hacked to death her husband Ganesh C. (48), a real estate agent, using a machete at their residence in Panchasheela Layout in Vijayanagar police station limits. On January 21, she reported the murder to the police. In her complaint she said that her husband was killed by unidentified men, while she along with her son Abhishek (a minor) had gone to her parents’ house in Shivamogga.
The Vijayanagar police who took up the case, but found during the investigation that the murder took place at least two or three days before it was reported.
Uma who was in the city at that time was picked up by the police for questioning and during interrogation she confessed to the crime. According to police, Ganesh and Uma had fought over some issue on January 18, following which Uma and Abhishek killed him with a machete.
The next day, Uma packed the machete and the clothes, which had blood stains, in a bag and left to her parents’ house in Shivamogga, along with Abhishek.
Upon reaching there, she narrated the story to her father K Raju and destroyed the evidence.
She later returned home on January 21 and reported the murder to the Vijayanagar police.
While Uma was arrested by the police, Abhishek and Raju were taken into the custody and are being interrogated to establish their role in the murder.
