Hyderabad: Bike-borne man tries to snatch chain, held
Hyderabad: A bike-borne chain snatcher, who attempted to rob a gold chain from a woman at Narsingi, was caught and roughed up by locals before being handed over to the police.
The incident took place at Janwada village under Narsingi police station limits of Cyberabad on Thursday. The police arrested the accused, Patel Kumar, 29, of Vattinagulapally of Ranga Reddy district.
The victim, Appagala Andalu, 40, was on her way to the agriculture field to give his lunch box to her husband A. Mallesh.
When the victim was walking on the road, a motorcyclist who was moving slowly behind her attempted to snatch her three-and-a-half tolas gold chain worn by her. An alert Andalu held his hand and raised alarm.
Narsingi inspector M. Gangadhar said that the woman sustained bruises in the incident. Prima facie, it appears that Patel Kumar has no criminal record.
He was arrested and remanded to judicial custody and the gold was recovered from him, the police officer added.
