Kerala actress molestation: Assailant Suni, aide may surrender soon

The High Court has postponed Suni's anticipatory bail plea to March.

Kochi: Goon ‘Pulsur’ Suni, who twice gave the cops a slip, is likely to surrender at any of the judicial courts here along with his absconding aide Vijesh soon. The High Court has postponed Suni’s anticipatory bail plea to March. The Special Investigation team has received “reliable” tip-off in this regard and posted police personnel in plainclothes near the courts. “Our effort is to nab them before they reach the court premises,” a senior officer of the SIT said. The two are believed to have escaped to Coimbatore after escaping from the cops on Saturday evening. Various teams have been asked to camp at Coimbatore and other places within the state based on the information elicited during the interrogation of Manikandan, his key accomplice arrested from a hide-out in Palakkad.

“We’ve tightened the screws and he is running from one hideout to another. He is fast running out of money and our combing network has been expanded,” he said. Meanwhile, analysis of the mobile call records of Suni failed to unearth any evidence with regard Kerala High Court on Tuesday adjourned the bail plea of Sunil alias Pulser Suni, Elampakappilly, Perumbavoor, the prime accused in the abduction and sexual assault of an actor, to March 3 for detailed hearing after seeking the state's stand in the case.

Suni and the joint applicants Manikandan and V.P. Vigeesh are booked for IPC sections 342 (wrongful confinement), 366 ( kidnapping or abduction), 376 (rape) 506 (1) ( criminal intimidation), 120 B (criminal conspiracy) and Section 66 (e), 67 (a) of Information Technology Act. The accused argued that the allegations are false and they have been implicated in the case on the basis of a confession by the second accused Martin who is in judicial custody. They were made accused without any basis and based on conjunctures and surmises, the petition said. “If the innocent petitioners are arrested it would cause irreparable injury and hardships to them under custody,” they submitted.
