Bhopal: Senior IAS officer of Chhattisgarh cadre B.L. Agrawal was on Tuesday arrested by CBI on charges of influencing the investigating agency to settle his case being probed by it, through gratification.
Two of his alleged accomplices in the bribery case have also been arrested. The IAS officer of 1988 batch who was principal secretary, education department of Chhattisgarh government, was placed under suspension following his arrest by the CBI; an official spokesman told this newspaper. The babu allegedly tried to influence the CBI authorities in Bhilai to settle his case through his reported associates.
The CBI officials in Bhilai had taken up the matter with their headquarters leading to raids on the premises of the IAS officer and his alleged accomplices in various places in the country.
He was arrested in Chhattisgarh on Tuesday morning and flown to Delhi for production in the local court.
