Hyderabad: A five-year-old girl was sexually assaulted by her 15-year-old neighbour in Sanathnagar on Saturday.
Police said that the mother had gone to work at a school and the father had gone to attend a relative’s funeral. In the afternoon, when her mother returned home, she found the girl crying.
On being asked, she said a boy from the neighbour had assaulted her. The mother found blood stains on the girl's clothes and took her to a nearby hospital, where doctors confirmed that she was sexually assaulted.
Based on a complaint from the girl’s mother, police registered a case under the the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences Act and IPC provisions for rape and sent the girl for medical examination. A hunt is on to trace the boy.
