41 accused in Adibatla kidnap case yet to file for bail
Hyderabad: The arrest of 41 accused in the Adibatla medico kidnap case, the most arrests in a single case in recent times in the city, are lodged in various
barracks inside the Cherlapally jail and often meet inside.
The 41 inmates, including the main suspect Kodudula Naveen Reddy, the
founder and CEO of the Mr. Tea chain, and his relatives, are housed within
barracks, according to officials from the Cherlapally prisons. "They are concerned about their lives after prison. They are all first-time offenders, under 25 years old, and appear to regret their actions. They will, however, face action according to the law of the land,” officials said.
According to Rachakonda police commissioner Mahesh Bhagwat, those responsible for the violence, assault, kidnapping, and attempt to murder will face severe punishment. "No one will be spared, and the case will proceed with a fast track trial. None of them have filed for bail so far. Even if they do, we will contest their bail application in court. Additionally, we are holding them in preventive detention,” he said.
The accused were booked under Sections 147, 148, 307, 324, 363, 427, 506,
452, and 380 r/w 149 of the IPC following the incident reported on December
9. It may be noted that on December 9, Mucharla Vaishali Reddy was abducted from her home by Naveen Reddy and his gang, most of whom are his employees at Mr. Tea. The girl was taken to Nalgonda in an SUV before dropping her at Manneguda. The mob ransacked the house and attacked her relatives while kidnapping her, in an attempt to spoil an engagement ceremony of Vaishali which was scheduled that day.
