Land dispute: 48-year-old murdered by cousins in Kothanur
BENGALURU: A 48-year-old man succumbed to injuries when his cousin brothers attacked him with machetes over a 30-year-old land dispute in Kothanur on Tuesday night.
The deceased has been identified as Nagaraj, a resident of Ashoka apartment in Thippanna Layout. He used to work with a car company, but later left the job to start business.
The accused have been identified as Manohar, Harish and Appu. All three of them are in their 20s while Manohar and Harish were related to Nagaraj.
According to the police, around 7 PM the accused were lying in wait near an isolated place near Nagaraj’s house, knowing that he would return soon.
As Nagaraj reached near his house, the trio attacked him repeatedly with machetes and escaped. The passersby rushed him to the nearby hospital, where he succumbed to his injuries on Wednesday morning.
The land dispute has been going on for three decades. Manohar and Harish had alleged that Nagaraj had cheated their grandmothers and taken away the two-acre land.
Nagaraj had later converted that land into a residential layout. The family had frequent quarrels over the issue, but had not filed any police complaints in the past. The Kothanur police have registered a case and are on lookout for the accused
