Chennai: A day after police recovered the body of a man with slit injuries on his throat off Canal road in Korattur, the identity of the man has been ascertained.
The deceased has been identified as Prabhakaran, a car driver, police said.
Investigations revealed that Prabhakaran was out on bail only 10 days ago. He was serving time in connection with a murder case, police sources said. He was arrested in July after he murdered a man over an illicit affair.
Meanwhile, Prabhakaran’s dead body was found in a Tasmac outlet near Canal road. Police suspect his rival gang to have lured him for a drinking session and then murdered him.
CCTV footages in the neighbourhood are being perused to find leads, police said.
Police also said that it was also possible that the man might have been murdered elsewhere and his body dumped in Korattur. Further investigations are on.
