Karnataka: Two school buses collide, drivers, five children injured
SHIVAMOGGA: Five children and two drivers were injured when two school buses of Jnanadeepa School collided with each other near Javalli about 10 km here on Holehonnur Road around 8.15 am on Tuesday. The injured children and drivers of two buses have been admitted to Nanjappa Hospital.
The doctors said the children, who had suffered minor injuries, were responding well to the treatment. One of the drivers Kallesh has fractured his leg, while another Belliyappa was injured on the chest. The injured children were discharged from the hospital in the afternoon.
Sources said that one of the buses was getting into the school after picking up children from Shivamogga, while the other bus was heading out after dropping the school when the accident occurred at the school entrance.
There were 27 children in the bus. The impact was so high that an earthmover had to be summoned to pull the two vehicles apart. Traffic movement on the busy Shivamogga-Holehonnur Road was affected for a while after the accident.
