Five girls from BC residential hostel attempt suicide after tiff with students

Warangal: Five Class X girls from Mahatma Jyothirao Phule Backward Class welfare residential hostel allegedly tried to end their lives by suicide by consuming sanitiser after a clash with fellow-students over a birthday event held on the hostel premises in Arepally village of Warangal district.

One of the five students was celebrating her birthday along with other students in their hostel room. They invited some of the boys from outside to participate in the celebrations without the knowledge of the hostel staff.

When the hostel staff questioned the boys and did not allow them to enter the hostel, the girls tried to convince the hostel staff, telling them that the boys are their relatives. Meanwhile, the boys indulged in a heated argument with the hostel staff.

Later, the hostel staff took the issue to the notice of the concerned officials who visited the hostel and warned students that they would be sent out of the hostel after informing their parents. After the incident, some of the students in the hostel argued with the five students and questioned them for inviting the boys from outside and bringing bad names to others. The heated argument between the students led to a clash.

Upset with the incident and fearing that their parents would ill-treat them, the five students went to the hostel building’s terrace and tried to commit suicide by consuming sanitizer.

Other students in the hostel who noticed them alerted the hostel staff who immediately shifted them to MGM hospital.

Meanwhile, officials from MGM hospital said that the condition of the five students was stable and they are kept under a day’s observation.
