Bengaluru: Three murder accused evade arrest, two shot at, held
Bengaluru: Kanakapura police shot at two murder accused, when they tried to evade arrest and attacked the police team early Tuesday.
The police had gone to arrest them in connection with the Monday’s murder of Kanakapura unit JD(S) SC/ST wing General Secretary R.T. Rajagopal.
Kanakapura Circle Inspector Mallesh told Deccan Chronicle that the team received a tip off that three murder accused were present near Pipeline Road in Sathanur.
When the police team, led by Mallesh and sub inspector Krishna Kumar, went to arrest them around 4.30 am, the trio attacked the police with knives and machetes.
The police opened fire and two of them, Rama (21) and Deepak alias Deepu (28), and later shifted them to hospital, while the third accused, identified as Kaushik, fled.
Mallesh said they have credible evidence of Kaushik’s whereabouts and will soon arrest him.
When asked about the motive behind the murder, he said the police suspect personal animosity, but is yet to ascertain the real reason.
JD(S) leader was brutally hacked to death by four unidentified miscreants on November 11. He was killed behind Nandini Bakery, when he was on his way home.
While Rajagopal was walking alone, the miscreants attacked him with lethal weapons and he bled to death on the spot.
