Hyderabad : Son, 3 others arrested for attacking man

Govardhan, father of Kranthi Kumar started fighting with Kranthi's mother over a land.

Hyderabad : The police arrested a four member gang on Monday and found out that an autorickshaw driver’s son and an engineering student were involved in his attack last week.

The suspects included Jilakara Kranthi Kumar, 25, the son from the victim K. Govardhan’s first marriage and an engineering student, Sk Sharif, 20.
The other suspects were identified as Nandipati Anil, 22, and Ikkiri Bhaskar, 20.

Police said Govardhan and Yashoda had married more than two decades ago and the couple had three children. After the birth of the third child, Yashoda took the children and went to stay at her parents place. Govardhan subsequently married another woman and had two children with her.

Govardhan was not taking care of his first wife and family. Six years ago, they started fighting with him over a 60-square yard land located at LB Nagar. Kranti Kumar hatched a plan to kill him and discussed the same with three of his friends.

As per the plan, Sharif and Bhaskar would hire Govardhan's autorickshaw on Thursday to travel to Abdullapurmet. On they way, they stopped the autorickshaw at a pre-determined spot to relieve themselves.

“As soon as he stopped the vehicle, Kranthi and Anil who were following on a two-wheeler and the other two attacked Govardhan with sickles. He tried defending himself, but sustained severe injuries on his palms, head, left shoulder and back,” said LB Nagar DCP M. Venkateswar Rao.
