Hyderabad: 5 pseudo cops arrested for extortion
Hyderabad: Sleuths of the Rachakonda special operations team on Friday arrested five persons who impersonated task force officials and were threatening a person.
The suspects included an armed reserve police constable with the Hyderabad city police and two job aspirants, a software firm owner and two others. The suspects are identified as Kolapuri Sai Kumar, Subba Rao, Mamindla Kiran Kumar, Bolla Pavan Kumar, and Bayya Benjohnson.
According to the police, the victim, Grandi Sivanand Swamy, quit his job due to health reasons and shifted to Boduppal three months ago. He is a friend of Kiran Kumar. Kiran informed other members of the gang that the victim used to run a brothel in Amberpet and decided to threaten him with a false case.
As per the plan, Kiran visited the victim’s house a week ago in a police uniform, where he introduced himself as an SI. “They said that they will book a case against him and release his details to the media and demanded Rs 2 lakh. He agreed to pay Rs 1 lakh and paid Rs 63,000 on Thursday and later lodged a complaint,” the police said.
