Bengaluru: A septuagenarian was arrested by the Vijayanagar police on Wednesday for allegedly molesting a minor girl at her house in Vijayanagar slums.
The accused, Rajanna (70), was absconding after allegedly molesting the girl on Tuesday. The police had launched a manhunt after the victim’s parents filed a complaint. He was arrested on Wednesday.
With Tuesday being a school holiday, the victim, a class three student, was alone at her house, as her parents, daily wage workers, had gone to work. Finding the girl alone, Rajanna, who stays in the neighbourhood with his ailing wife and children, went to the girl’s house and allegedly molested her and fled the spot.
The incident came to light when the victim narrated the incident to her parents when they returned home from work in the evening. The parents then approached the Vijayanagar police station and filed the complaint against Rajanna, who was booked under POCSO Act.
