Srinagar: Police on Wednesday claimed to have solved a murder case within two days by arresting the wife of the deceased and her paramour in Budgam district of central Kashmir.

Ghulam Mohammad Mir, a resident of Hil-Mission village, was reportedly missing from September 18 and a missing persons report was lodged at Budgam police station the next day, a police spokesman said.

"Efforts were made to trace out the missing person and to ascertain the facts of the case. The wife of the missing person, Fatima, was questioned and confessed that she, after hatching a conspiracy with her paramour Ghulam Rasool Parra, also a resident of Hil-Mission, killed her husband," the spokesman said. Both Parra and Fatima were arrested, he added.

A murder case was registered and during investigation, the body of the deceased was recovered along with an axe, the murder weapon.

The deceased's body was handed over to his legal heirs for last rites, the spokesman added.
