Bengaluru: College dropout held for growing, selling marijuana
Bengaluru: A 28-year-old college dropout was arrested by Central Crime Branch (CCB) sleuths for growing marijuana at his house and peddling it.
The police arrested Pradeep Timmegowda and recovered 5.5 kg of marijuana worth Rs 3 lakh from him.
On a tipoff, CCB sleuths raided Pradeep’s house in HSR Layout Second Sector on Monday and found that he was growing marijuana in flower pots.
Pradeep dropped out of his B.Com course six years ago as he was addicted to ganja. With no source of income, he started growing marijuana at his rented house and sold it to his contacts.
On his arrest, Pradeep showed no remorse and tried to justify his ‘profession’, saying, “Marijuana has medicinal values and the government should make its sale and consumption legal.”
The police said that when there was high demand, Pradeep sourced marijuana from one of his contacts, Govindappa from Kanakapura, and made huge profits.
The police have booked Pradeep under NDPS Act and remanded him to judicial custody.
Two mobile phones have also been recovered from Pradeep from which the police are trying to get the numbers of his clients and sources.
