Gang targeting NRI lost plots' busted in Hyderabad

Officials said the gang prepared forged documents of marked properties and sold it to buyers.

Hyderabad: Cyberabad East police has nabbed a five-member land grabbing gang who had targeted open layouts and plots belonging to NRIs.

Officials said the gang prepared forged documents of marked properties and sold it to buyers. An investigation is now on to find if officials from the Sub Registrar’s Officer at Pedda Amberpet and LB nagar were involved in the scam.

The arrested have been identified as G. Priyankar, K. Praveen Kumar, M. Hari Krishna, K. Suresh and B. Suresh. One Krishna and Chukka Suresh are currently absconding.

Additional DCP SOT E. Ramchandra Reddy said the gang would target open lands in ventures whose layouts had been laid in the late 80s.

Owners of suchplots are often abroad and some have even forgotten locations of their plots. “They marked such plots, prepared forged documents using fake identities and later put them plots up for sale,” a senior official said.
