Chennai: In brutal police excess, a sub-inspector allegedly attacked a college student during the night patrol on Thursday night. According to the sources, Mohammed Aaron of Choolaimedu and a third-year student in a city college was returning home with his friends after taking part in a marriage function when SI Ilayaraja attached to Chetpet police station stopped their two-wheeler on Spur Tank Road.
“As Ilayaraja and police tried to verify the documents of the vehicle, an argument between the SI and Aaron erupted reportedly. The argument turned to fisticuffs and Ilayaraja allegedly beat Aaron with lathi injuring him,” a source said.
Aaron was admitted to a private hospital in Chetpet and underwent treatment for his injuries. However, police officials at the station said that they are yet to receive a complaint. “As there is no complaint received, FIR is yet to be registered,” the police said.
