Hyderabad: Sleuths from Malkajgiri district excise arrested an interstate liquor smuggler and seized 130 spurious non-duty paid bottles valued at Rs 3.50 lakh.

Excise officials of Ghatkesar division of Malkajgiri district while on routine watch duties at  A.S. Rao Nagar and Narapally intercepted a car carrying 45 such bottles late on Friday night.

The car owner Janga Laxma Reddy, a resident of Lothakunta, was taken into custody. He said he was smuggling them from Haryana and supplying them in the city, said Superintendent of Malkajgiri district D. Arun Kumar.

Another 85 bottles of the same brand were recovered from Janga Reddy’s house in Lothkunta.  Reliable sources disclosed that Laxma Reddy along with his associates T. Srikanth and N. Nagaraju were also involved in the racket.

It is suspected that Srikanth and Nagaraju who are absconding have additional stock.
