Hyderabad: Two women arrested for stealing mobile phones
Police recovered 11 cell phones worth Rs 1.5 lakh from them. They used to sell the stolen at cheap rates in the black market.
Hyderabad: The Meerpet police have arrested two habitual offenders on Sunday who have been stealing cell phones for the past 10 years. They were earlier arrested by Hayathnagar and Vanasthalipuram police officials for similar offences.
The police identified the accused as Mariyamma, 35, and Kotamma, 30. Both of them are residents of Abdullapurmet.
Police said both are relatives. “They would go to weekly fairs and steal cell phones from people,” said Mr. V Srinivas Reddy, sub inspector at Meerpet police station. Police recovered 11 cell phones, valued to be worth Rs 1.5 lakh. They used to sell the stolen at cheap rates in the black market. A case has been registered under section 379 of the IPC against the duo.
