Hyderabad: The Saidabad police have arrested a man on Saturday who was allegedly involved in kidnapping a 17-year-old and sexually assaulting her.
The accused has been identified as G. Srikanth, 25, a water supply boy from Champapet. “The victim went out for a prayer meeting on April 29 and never returned. The mother of the victim filed a missing complaint with the Saidabad police and expressed her doubt that a man named G. Srikanth might have kidnapped her daughter,” said K. Sattaiah, inspector of police Saidabad.
However, on May 19, the police apprehended the accused along with the victim. The victim said that while going for a prayer meeting she had left with Srikanth and he lured her to have a physical relationship.
The accused also confessed to the crime and has been sent to judicial remand for further investigation. The accused has been charged under POCSO Act. If convicted, he will face 10 years imprisonment along with a fine decided by the court.
