Bengaluru: Son goes missing, ASI hangs self at quarters
Bengaluru: After his son went missing months ago, a depressed Assistant Sub-Inspector allegedly committed suicide at the City Armed Reserve residential quarters in Adugodi here on Saturday night.
The deceased has been identified as Dayananda Sagar (58), attached to City Armed Reserve (CAR) Adugodi. For nearly a week he was posted at the Vidhana Soudha.
According to police, Dayananda's elder son Ganesh Sagar was running a coffee shop in Jayanagar. Recently he incurred huge losses in the business and one day Dayananda reprimanded him.
In a fit of anger Ganesh left home. For some days Dayananda and his wife waited, thinking he would return. However, when he didn't they filed a missing complaint with the police and also launched a search on their own.
Dayananda later slipped into depression when they could not find him even after four months. On Saturday night, he returned from work and hung himself to the ceiling of his bedroom, when his wife and another son Kiran Sagar were asleep.
The deceased has left behind a suicide note in which he stated that he was taking the extreme step as he could not find his son. The Adugodi police have registered a case of unnatural death and shifted the body to Victoria Hospital for post-mortem.
