Thieves held, valuables seized
Hyderabad: Rachakonda police arrested a two-member burglary gang which had burgled 14 houses in various police station areas in the city. LB Nagar police recovered valuables worth Rs 5 lakh from them. The suspects are A. Srikanth Goud and B. Vamshi Krishna. DCP M. Venkateshwar Rao said the suspects were childhood friends. Srikanth was working as an autorickshaw driver and Vamshi as a guard at an apartment complex in Nagole. They become addicted to alcohol and started thefts to fund their addiction.
Police said the gang used to strike at night. “They burgled eight houses in LB Nagar, four in Hayathnagar and one each in Chaitanyapuri and Vanast-halipuram,” the DCP said.
On Friday night, while they were moving suspiciously, police nabbed them. They admitted committing thefts and police recovered valuables worth Rs 5 lakh including six tolas of gold, one kg silver, three laptops, an Apple computer, three LED TVs, two phones and one tab computer. The duo were remanded.
