Hyderabad: Senior held for teasing woman
Hyderabad: A 76-year-old Good Samaritan, who eventually turned into an “eve teaser”, was arrested by the SHE team at Rachakonda on Saturday. Vinod Dewan, who helped the victim’s grandfather when he fell sick at a temple, took her phone number and then allegedly started pestering her with calls. The victim thanked the SHE cell after he was arrested.
Police said the 24-year-old MBA student stayed at Sainikpuri. She was a regular visitor to the Saibaba temple in Madhavapuri colony. Vinod Dewan, a civil engineer-turned realtor, was also a frequent visitor at the temple. On Thursday, the woman and her grandfather went to the temple. When the grandfather complained of giddiness, the girl requested Vinod Dewan, to help her grandfather get back home.
Vinod Dewan took the woman’s phone number and started calling her. He spoke well in the beginning, but then started inviting her for a “long drive.” She turned down his request, and then told him that she would inform her parents and then come with him one day. The man became angry and told her not to inform her parents as per the woman’s complaint.
Rachakonda police commissioner Mahesh Bhagawat said that the girl was taken aback by the old man’s change in attitude. She stopped responding to his calls, but Dewan continued calling her. Finally, the girl approached the SHE cell via WhatsApp. The SHE team filed a petty case against the man. Vinod Dewan was arrested on Saturday. He would soon be produced before a court.
