Hyderabad: Petition seeks strict action against blood adulterer
Hyderabad: A petition has been filed with the State Human Rights Commission (SHRC) on Friday against a lab technician who mixed blood with saline at the government blood bank attached to Koti Maternity Hospital.
Narendra Prasad was detained after a patient’s relative procured 250 ml of blood from him only to find that paramedical staff had rejected the packet saying it contained just 150ml of usable fluid. After media reports, social activist M.V.S.Prasad filed a petition with the SHRC seeking stringent action against the accused and requested the Commission to direct the government to establish a monitoring authority for blood banks across the state. The SHRC is yet to issue orders on the petition.
Meanwhile, Sultan Bazaar police has also issued a notice to the maternity hospital seeking an explanation on the matter. Cops have also conducted a raid on Narendra Prasad’s residence. Prasad is currently absconding. Prasad used to take blood donated at hospitals and mixed it with saline. He then attached labels of private blood banks and sold it.
