BENGALURU: A 26-year-old man has been arrested under the Pocso Act by the HSR Layout police after he allegedly sexually abused a one and half year old girl. The accused, Dipesh Pradhan, hails from Darjeeling.
The toddler’s parents, who hail from Nepal and came to the city only around six months ago, live in a shed near an apartment at Doddakallahalli. Both the father and mother work as housekeeping staff in the apartment. The accused, Pradhan, too came to the city recently and was living in the shed next to the girl’s family. He was working as a house keeping staff in a private company.
“As Pradhan and the girl’s father were friends, he visited the shed often. On Wednesday, the girl’s parents had gone to work, while the toddler was sleeping in the shed. Around 1 pm, the accused who was drunk went to the shed and sexually abused the girl. When the girl screamed, those living in the other sheds in the neighbourhood rushed and caught Pradhan. They thrashed him before handing him over to us,” the police said.
The HSR Layout police have registered a case under the provisions of Pocso Act and have remanded Pradhan to judicial custody after subjecting both the accused and the toddler to medical tests.
