TV artiste's flat burgled

HYDERABAD: Some unidentified persons broke into the locked house of television artiste, Sumitra Pampana, and decamped with gold and diamond jewellery. The burglars broke the main door lock and gained entry into the house, police said.

Police said that Sumitra Pampana, a resident of Srinagar Colony, left home on Monday. She locked the house, informed her brother’s family residing in the same apartment and handed over the keys to her sister-in-law. On Tuesday, her sister-in-law noticed the flat’s main door latch was broken and informed her. She immediately directed them to report it to the police, who rushed to the spot and started an inquiry.

Late on Wednesday, after returning home from Delhi, Sumitra found that gold and diamond ornaments weighing about 129 tolas and silver ornaments weighing about 293 grams were missing.

She told police that some of the missing gold ornaments belonged to her nephew, who had kept them in her flat for safe custody.

On her complaint, Panjagutta police registered a case and started an investigation.
