Man helps one fix car, then runs away with it

HYDERABAD: An unidentified person ran away with a car under the pretext of helping its owner under Gandhinagar PS limits. As the car broke down on the road, the suspect identifying himself as a mechanic, approached the owner offering to help. He sat in the driver’s seat and made the owner push the vehicle. In the process, as the vehicle started, he sped away.

Gandhinagar police registered a case and started an investigation. SHO Gandhinagar N. Mohan Rao said special teams are working on the case.

B. Suresh of Shamshabad, working for a cab aggregator, on Wednesday night dropped passengers at Jubilee Bus station and started for home. When he reached the Marriott hotel, the car broke down. He initially tried to start and even took the help of passersby to push it, but in vain.

A few minutes later, the suspect approached Suresh and offered help. Believing him, Suresh made the suspect sit in the driver’s seat and started pushing the vehicle.

The vehicle which did not start earlier started. As the vehicle started the suspect sped with the vehicle. Police found he drove to the Tank Bund and then towards Nizam College. They are verifying CC cameras for clues.
