Kozhikode: Freak who likes jail commits murder
Kozhikode: A 33-year-old man’s ardent wish to go to jail provoked him to stab a stranger on road at Kozhikode on Saturday. The incident took place in front of the city commissioner’s office. After committing the cirime, the man entered the commissioner’s office with a blood stained knife and admitted that he killed a man on road.
The man has been identified as Prabin Das from Valayam who stabbed a stranger on his neck at the footpath near Mananchira in Kozhikode city.
Just behind Prabin, the victim also entered the commissioner office premises with a wound in his neck and collapsed in the premises. Even though the police took the person to the Kozhikode Government Medical College hospital, he succumbed to the injury.
Kasaba SI K.V. Smithesh said that the victim has not been identified yet but said police has found some documents from his cover which is printed in Tamil language and hence the victim is suspected to be a Tamil Nadu native. More information will be gathered about the victim, he said. Prabin was arrested immediately after the incident.
Following further questioning it was revealed that Prabin was unemployed and so he wanted to go to a jail by any means and hence he had been planning to murder somebody so that his chances to go to a jail wouldn’t fail. He also revealed that he was in search for a beggar or a stranger on street for this purpose and finally found one on the day and decided to stab him.
Detailing about the incident further, the police officer said that Prabin directly apporched the guard man in the guard’s room which is located very close to the entrance gate of the commissioner office and started confessing that he stabbed a man.
Soon after he entered the premises, the stranger who was stabbed also entered but collapsed at the compound and later was taken to the hospital. Prabin was repeatedly telling the police that he was wishing to go to jail for a long time.
The body of the victim has been kept in the mortuary of MCH.
