Trafficking, drug cases to get speedy trial in Hyderabad
Hyderabad: Commissioner Mahesh Bhagwat said that forensic reports were awaited for cases of human trafficking and drug-related cases involving Nigerian nationals, as well as other important cases. He said that after the reports arrived, charge-sheets would be filed and the cases would be tried in fast-track courts so that the suspects could be convicted speedily.
A human trafficking and drug racket case, in which a Nigerian woman was involved, was busted at Jawaharnagar and an interstate drug racket was busted at LB Nagar in 2017.
“All the cases have been investigated thoroughly. The drug samples have been sent for forensic analysis. Once the reports arrive, Charge sheets will be filed before the court. We will pursue the cases for speedy trial in fast-track courts.
This will send a strong message to other drug peddlers operating in the city,” commissioner Mahesh Bhagwat said.
The Rachakonda police recently sponsored Maro Lokam, a short film highlighting the ill-effects of drug abuse to create awareness among teens, particularly in educational institutions. It has received a good response from the audience.
