Hyderabad man threatens wife's online friend for money, arrested
Hyderabad: A woman befriended a techie on an online dating site. Her husband then blackmailed him, threatening to release the conversations that the techie had had with his wife and have his sister’s marriage cancelled if he did not give him money. The KPHB police arrested B. Satish on Tuesday.
According to the police, the techie met Kavitha, Satish’s wife, on a dating site. He became friends with her and they began chatting regularly. She told him that she was facing some financial problems and asked him to help her by giving her '4 lakh as a loan, which she would repay.
On March 9, she called the techie and asked him to transfer '5,000 to her, saying it was an emergency. He ended up believing her and transferred the amount. Later, she said that she was interested in a physical relationship with him, which he declined.
Five days ago, Kavitha asked him to transfer '10,000 to her account, which he did. On Monday, her husband, Satish, went to his residence, restrained and threatened him, and demanded '10 lakh.
“He threatened to show the conversations that he had with Kavitha to his family members and relatives and even get his sister’s wedding cancelled,” said Ch. Kushalkar, inspector of KPHB.
Based on a complaint filed by the techie, a case was registered against Satish. He was arrested and sent to remand.
