Guntur: FINS app helps to nab criminals

The Fingerprint Network System on Tuesday helped the police nab an inter-district thief.

GUNTUR: The Fingerprint Network System on Tuesday helped the police nab an inter-district thief and recover 1 kg of silver ornaments, gold ornaments and a moped from him. Nadendla police, while carrying out vehicle checks at Chandavaram centre of Satuluru, noticed one T. Venkateswarlu alias Chinna alias Babu, a resident of Nekkallu in Tullur mandal acting furtively and stopped him.

The cops matched the fingerprints on the FINS mobile application and found he was an old offender involved in various cases. During interrogation, Venkateswarlu confessed to stealing gold and silver ornaments and vehicles during nights from locked houses. DSP Ch. Lakshmipathi said the police team, under the supervision of Nadendla sub-inspector Chandrasekhar, rea-lised Venkateswarlu wore a mask to conceal his identity whenever he targeted locked houses.

“FINS enables us to access data, including photos, fingerprints, history of criminals, pending non-bailable warrants of terrorists, Maoists, terror suspects, robbers, snatchers, criminals and other anti social elements,” the DSP said. The police said that 50 grams of gold ornaments, 1 kg silver ornaments and a moped was recovered. Guntur rural SP Ch. V. Appala Naidu lauded the police for nabbing the offender with the help of FINS.
