Visakhapatnam: A woman reportedly abandoned her two-day-old female baby at the Victoria General Hospital, popularly known also as Gosha Hospital in Vizag city on Sunday evening. The hospital authorities said they were yet to trace the woman. Superintendent of the hospital Dr K. Hemalatha said the woman identified as Joga Devi (38), wife of Joga Obula Reddy of Nagaralaveedhi of Malka-puram area in Vizag city was admitted to the hospital with labour pain on Saturday morning and delivered the baby at 1.30 pm.
Though Devi had submitted the Aadhaar card of her husband, she had not provided any phone number. Devi disappeared from the hospital at around 6 pm on Sunday. The security guards have searched for her but she was no to be found. Dr Hemalatha has informed the One-Town police station. The two women (attendants) who came to the hospital along with Devi have claimed they were not related to Devi and they were fruit vendors from Malkapuram.
