Driver's murder case: Duo may have had gay' bond, says police
Hyderabad: A police official who is investigating the murder of driver B. Nagaraju said he and prime suspect D. Venkat Sukru, 21, were “extremely close”. Police suspects the duo was in a homosexual relationship. Nagaraju, who was the driver of IAS official D. Venkateswara Rao’s former wife D. Anita, used to meet Sukru frequently. Police said Nagaraju also used to work as a domestic help for Ms Anita.
Sukru lives with his father at his residence in Begumpet, while Nagaraju lives in a colony at Rahmathnagar. When the police was investigating why Sukru and Nagaraju had selected the terrace at the Sai Kalyan Residency Apartments at Yousufguda in Jubilee Hills to sit and drink, they found that the watchman was Nagaraju’s friend. “Nagaraju used to come there often to meet his friend. On that night, he took Sukru with him to drink,” said an official.
Police officials said they were investigating if there was ‘sexual tension’ between the duo that led to a sudden quarrel. Police are also investigating if the murder was pre-planned and if more persons were involved. “Nagaraju must have been so drunk that he could not resist the attack,” said an official. “We are probing who was there to help Sukru when he tried to move the body, whether it was his father or someone else,” said the cop.
