Abhay Modani murder case: Abhay pleaded for his release
Hyderabad: Through them, he was appointed as a helper to the Modanis’ elderly neighbour Hanuma Das for a monthly salary of Rs 7,000 in August 2015. During this time, he had befriended Abhay. In February of 2016, Sheshu asked his aides Ravi and Mohan to shift to Hyderabad so that they could try their luck in films. They shifted to a flat at Hindinagar.
“In February, Sheshu got in touch with film artiste Balu Paul who had acted in Kurra Toofan movie, over Facebook. Balu told Sheshu that one needed good dancing skills and a lot of money to enter films,” the commissioner said. Seshu left the job on March 9 to spend more time on dance, but money became a hurdle.
On March 14, Sheshu and his friends watched Oka Romantic Crime Katha — the main theme of the film was earning money through kidnappings. “With that they decided to kidnap somebody for ransom and purchased packing tape and ropes. Seshu then revealed about his friendship with Abhay,” added the commissioner.
They purchased three SIM cards at Begum Bazaar and Seshu surveyed Abhay’s movements while being in touch over WhatsApp.
According to the plan, on March 16, when Abhay came out, Seshu met him and requested a lift. On the way, when Abhay was getting calls from home, Seshu said that he would ride the bike. “At the flat, where Mohan and Ravi were already waiting, they gave him a soft drink and told him that he had been kidnapped. A shell shocked Abhay is then believed to have pleaded with his abductors to release him and discuss with his parents, the ransom.
Fearing that Abhay would raise an alarm and alert people, they covered his face and mouth with tape and later, when they found Abhay had died of suffocation the trio packed the body into a carton and vacated the house. According to officials, they then hired a trolley to carry the body. When the trolley driver refused to wait, they hired another auto to Secunderabad station.
