Thrissur: A home nurse attached to an agency in Perumpilavu near Kunnamkulam was strangled to death by a security guard at his family quarters Sunday night, police said. They identified her as Varsha aka Manju, 28, a native of Ayur in Kollam. After committing the crime, the guard at Ansar Hospital in Perumpilavu, K. Hussain, 35, surrendered before Kunnamkulam police.
A resident of Kottol near Kunnamkulam, he confessed that he was in a relationship with the victim and she tried to blackmail him by threatening to reveal their secret affair to his wife. Police said they met while she was a bystander for a patient at Ansar Hospital and their relationship started only a few months ago. She demanded money from him several times. After sending his wife to her home, the guard called the victim to his quarters in Perumpilavu near the hospital and killed. Her dead body was recovered on Monday morning from a plantain farm near the quarters.
