Mumbai: 26-yr-old woman stabbed to death in Goregaon

Investigating officials have ruled out robbery as the motive of the murder as her phone and jewellery were found on her.

Mumbai: A 26-year-old woman, Geeta Dubey, was stabbed to death, while travelling alone by autorickshaw from her house in Goregaon (East) house to purchase vegetables. The incident took place at around 9:45 pm on Monday.

The attacker has not been identified. The police said that witnesses saw the attacker running away.

“She was stabbed in the neck and hand,” an eye-witness told HT.

The victim was married for four years and has two children. According to the police, the crime could be a case of personal enmity. They are trying to find out if the act has been committed by a jilted lover.

She was taken to Siddharth Hospital by a resident of that area, a college student and the driver.

“The woman was not breathing. Her finger was almost completely severed and there were stab wounds on her neck,” the college student said.

A police team has already started scanning the CCTV footage in the area to understand if any man is seen running off from the area after the attack.

Investigating officials have ruled out robbery as the motive of the murder as her phone and jewellery were found on her.

They suspect that the attacker might be known to her. Also, the CCTV footage, along the route from her house to the place of incident is being checked, to verify whether she was being followed.
