Kerala: Bail plea of Islamic State module-accused rejected

First accused Abdul Rashid used to send money to the account of Zahid and she used to collect the money using the ATM card.

Kochi: The Ernakulam NIA special court on Monday dismissed the bail plea of Yasmeen Mahamed Zahid, an accused in the Kasargod IS module case. The NIA informed the court that Zahid was arrested from the New Delhi International Airport on July 30 last when she was trying to leave for Kabul along with her minor child. She was planning to join her co-conspirator and the first accused Abdul Rashid in the territory under the control of IS in Afghanistan.

The NIA argued that the accused had committed a serious offence against the country. Zahid had participated in religious classes conducted by Abdul Rashid and his wife Ayisha in which the main topic was 'Hijra, 'Jihad' and ISIS. First accused Abdul Rashid used to send money to the account of Zahid and she used to collect the money using the ATM card. Using that fund Zahid arranged visa and air tickets for Kabul. The NIA court held that the allegation levelled against the petitioner was prima facie true and that she was not entitled for bail.
