Jishnu death case: Kerala seeks to cancel bail given to chairman P Krishnadas

Kochi: The government has approached the Kerala High Court seeking to cancel the interim bail granted to Krishnadas, chairman, Nehru group of institutions and an accused in the death of Jishnu, a student. The state submitted that there was a deliberate attempt by the first accused Krishnadas to mislead the investigators. He had already threatened the witnesses in the case, for which a separate crime had been registered at the Pazhayanoor police station. There was circumstantial evidence to prove that Jishnu was taken to the board room and physically assaulted and mentally tortured with the knowledge of the first accused.

All accused had destroyed and fabricated evidence to escape their culpability, the state said. Krishnadas had produced a letter purportedly written by the Thrissur district collector inviting the petitioner for a peace talk on February 16. However, the district collector had clarified that the petitioner was not called for any meeting on February 15. Nor had he attended any meeting called between February 16 and 21.Therefore, he had obtained the interim order on February 16 by misrepresentation of these facts, the state said.

If the accused was released on bail, there were chances of his influencing the witnesses and harming the co-accused, thereby jeopardising the investigation. They had deleted the CCTV footage and destroyed beyond repair the hard disk of CCTV and other systems in the administrative block. The accused had also tried to cover their crime and manipulated the crime scene by washing of bloodstains from the bathroom walls. They fabricated false documents and presented them as genuine as written by the deceased Jishnu.
